On June 8th 2025, we successfully completed A Walk Around the World for Rudy 2025! This marks the 12th annual walk in memory of Rudy.

This year the challenge started on May 10th meaning we only had 30 days to collectively walk almost 29,000 km. For the first three weeks of the journey we were severely lacking the requisite pace to meet our goal, but in the final week our walkers really stepped it up a notch to get us over the finish line. This year's challenge saw over 190 people walking, dancing, running, and doing all forms of physical activity to rack up the steps in memory of Rudy, with the objective of increasing awareness and fundraising for research into rare and inoperable forms of brain cancer such as Gliomatosis Cerebri.

As always, we started our virtual journey in London, UK and circumnavigated the world, finishing back in London on the North bank of the River Thames (St Katharine Docks). As a group we managed to walk more than 42 million steps and reached 103% of our target distance! Every single one of our walkers should be incredibly proud of this huge achievement!

This year we also introduced the option to select a country to represent for each of our walkers, adding a new dimension of competition. Throughout the walk we saw various countries move in and out of the top three but in the end Team Switzerland took the top spot, living up to their name as a nation that loves to hike! Team USA came second and Team Planet Earth (those who didn't choose a specific country to represent) came third.

A special congratulations as well to our top 10 walkers who managed to rack up some incredible distances once again this year. The final Top 10 leader board is shown below:

Our top three walkers, Sarah Mills, Angela Strembitsky, and Gary Hyman cumulatively walked over 1,500km between them! For reference, that is longer than the distance between London and Warsaw!

A Walk Around the World for Rudy received incredible support from a community of friends, family, and colleagues, and together we have raised funds for essential research into rare and inoperable brain cancers like Gliomatosis Cerebri.

Thank you to all of our supporters for making this such a successful event and we can't wait for next year's walk!
