Remembering Rudy - The Walk 2017

The Remembering Rudy

Walk for the fourth year was scheduled to be held as always, by walking the seven bridges in London, from the Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge.

However, the unfortunate events on the previous night on London Bridge (June 3), resulted in the area being cordoned off and closed to public the next morning. Hence the plan had to be changed and everyone was asked to assemble at the meeting point near Tower Bridge.

Despite all the tube closures and route diversions, we were extremely grateful and humbled that despite all the inconvenience, everyone showed up. We then held our tribute to the memory of our beloved Rudy and then conducted the rest of the session over lunch.

This year the raffle had some fabulous prizes, and we are grateful to all our donors. In fact we had additional prizes due to the generosity of some more sponsors and so in all had six draws. Congratulations to the winners.

ICR was represented in great strength, with Prof. Chris Jones and many of his team in attendance. We are happy to state that this year The Rudy A Menon Foundation handed over a cheque for £20,000 to ICR for the research on Gliomatosis Cerebri (GC).

Prof Jones gave a short update on the progress of the research on GC and it was encouraging to note the fact that the data was now available from around 100 samples. He has also been able to work with some live cells and this is a great step forward in understanding the disease a little better.

We are extremely thankful to all our supporters, donors and sponsors without whom, we will not be able to make a difference, in this endeavor to save lives, especially of children, because of this devastating disease.
